CORNISH WORKWEAR

Beautifully practical clothing for modern makers

Our Cornish Workwear collection is inspired by the enduring style of Cornwall’s artistic and creative community. We’ve taken simple yet practical shapes from the studio and blended with our unique colour palette drawn from the rich glazes of Cornish potters.

This season’s collection is showcased by Seasalt Chief Creative Officer Laura Watson and her daughter Tilda, in the studios at Morgans Gallery, Falmouth.

Explore the Cornish handwriting behind this collection, woven into each design detail with classic elements taken from our fishing and artistic heritage.

This year, we’re celebrating 40 years since we bought our first shop in Penzance. The shop sold traditional workwear, like fishermen’s smocks, Guernsey pullovers and stripy tops, and our customers were the sailors, fishermen and artists of St Ives. Those early days have shaped how our clothes look today.

“It’s the way that artists adopted the utilitarian styles of the fishermen that we have always loved.

Smocks, aprons and overalls layered over Breton stripes, with neckerchiefs to keep hair out of their faces whilst working – this has been the starting point for many of our best-selling styles.”

“Clothes are such an important part of how we express ourselves as individuals.

Clothes can become friends, souvenirs – a record of a moment in time and how we felt.”
