Leach Jug

Product Description

50% Cornish Clay from St Agnes 50% Ball Clay from Devon

Small glazed clay jug. Designed and made in Cornwall by the world famous Leach Pottery.

Our pots and mugs are made using locally sourced clay from St.Agnes in Cornwall, hand thrown in the Leach workshop and finished with dolomite glaze, which was used at Leach during the 1950's. The beautiful colour of the pots is created by the presence of small traces of iron in the clay.

This type of pottery is known as stoneware: it is hardwearing and if treated with care should last a lifetime.

Our exclusive 'Leach for Seasalt' collection celebrates our joint love for simple, beautiful style and true craftsmanship.

Please note, this product is handmade so sizes may vary slightly.

Not as shown

Yes, this is a well-made item (as one would expect for the price!), but the previous reviewer who lamented the variation in shape was absolutely right. The one I received -- expensively shipped overseas -- is very fat at the bottom; I can't say I like it very much, but it would be far too expensive to ship back and try another, so that's that. I think that if the shape/style is going to vary so much from the illustration online, Seasalt should take a moment and email a photo of the one you're actually going to receive and wait for buyer approval before shipping. Also, why not list the volume/capacity of the jug under "measurements"? It's not an item of clothing.

Dear cicaletta
Thanks for your review of your Leach Jug. We'll certainly pass your suggestions on regarding the size and shape of individual items however all the Leach Pottery is handmade so size can vary, which only adds to its uniqueness!
Best wishes, Seasalt

Very nice, but obviously vary a lot

This is a beautiful jug - but be warned that the shape obviously varies quite a lot. Mine has a much narrower neck (in fact it is difficult to clean, because too small easily to get quite a small hand in it), but I do really like it. I think it is the sort of jug that one gets to like more and more, as one uses it.
