Our Plant Hunter Coat is a relaxed-fitting, parka-style coat ready to take on the elements. Made from our innovative, beautifully soft, cotton-rich Tin Cloth® fabric, it falls to mid-thigh at the front and has a dipped, fishtail hem at the back with snap fastening vent. The top half of the coat is lined with cosy fleece fabric, while the bottom half is quilted to keep the chill at bay throughout the winter. The cosy, fleece-lined hood has an adjustable drawcord, and it has a handy two-way zip, snap fastening front pockets and poppered cuffs so you can roll the sleeves up or down. It also has an internal waist drawcord.

A great coat

I bought this coat because although I have beautiful warm down coat, it isn't very waterproof. So far this coat has proven itself to be both warm and waterproof; rain and snow drops beading beautifully on the surface. I am a size 18 but find coats don't really meet very well in the middle (!) and I found a size 20 to be great with an adjustable waist to allow for the wearing of layers underneath if necessary. The blue is a beautiful, classy and cheerful colour. Buy it!

Like my coat

Nice to find a brown coat!
I had a 4-seasons that was functional but quite an ugly style and colour. It had flattering fun fur around the hood but that was scratchy.
So, treated myself to this Seasalt Plant Hunter. The length is good - knee length at 5'4". The style is roomy but fairly attractive. The hood fits well and has soft, warm lining. The arms are too long but turn up without looking too silly. It may not be warm enough for trips to Iceland, but can take a fitted jerkin underneath.
I don't like the slightly crinkly sound so 4 rather than 5.

Love it

I love it! Long length, cosy but not too hot and definitely waterproof! My only comment would be that when I put on the sleeves I sort of have to readjust the material inside and pull it up, difficult to explain! But then it’s fine. Very happy with it as an all weather dog walking coat!

Lovely Coat. Colour not what I was expecting

The coat in itself was lovely. Good fit, nice material and felt warm (although I never wore it outside). Unfortunately, the colour is very muted compared to the website pictures. A green/yellow and not the bright yellow I was expecting. Unfortunately, this muted tone did nothing for my pale complexion and so I returned the coat. Had the colour been different I would have had no hesitation in keeping this item. Perhaps I shall get one in another colour as everything else was perfect.

Dear Marls,

Thanks for your review and for your feedback regarding the colour. We do try to represent colours accurately but screen resolution settings can affect the colours you see when browsing a website. We'll have a look at this one to see if we can adjust it slightly.

As always, we have a 'no quibble' refund policy so we’ll arrange a prompt refund just as soon as we receive the coat back.

Keeps you dry

For about 10 years I had two Janelle coats over that time, both warm, waterproof and no complaints. I didn't like the yellow accents on the new navy version. So I tried a navy Plant Hunters Coat for a change. There is a big difference. Not as warm. Obviously not as long. But the worst part is the hood. I have a small head (!) and the hood barely reaches my hairline. So every time it rains my face is soaked. Not good when dog walking across the beach. I have taken to wearing a peak under the hood to keep the rain off. Such a bad design fault on a coat that is not cheap. I would ensure you try the hood for size before you buy it and think of wind and rain - it offers no protection! Of course now I have worn the coat I am stuck and can't take it back. Live and learn. Ending on a positive tho I'm not happy - the pockets are large!

Excellent quality

I, like many reviewers thought hard about paying this much for a coat but it is worth every penny. The quality is excellent, so good to have something beautifully made, no dodgy stitching or loose threads. You certainly get what you pay for and a pleasure to wear, I've hardly taken it off since I got it!

Perfect Winter coat

This is a great coat. The fleece lined top half keeps you warm but as it’s only the upper half you don’t get too hot. Also rain proof so covers a range of winter weather It looks stylish whether walking the dog or shopping. Great range of colours - I’d love to treat myself to another one in a different colour!

Plant Hunter Coat

I love my Plant Hunter Coat - it has kept me warm and dry during long dog walks on the beach and it also has two extra bonus points - muddy paw prints can be wiped away with a damp cloth, and the cosy lined hood stays up in fierce horizontal Welsh wind and rain. I haven't washed it yet but hopefully it will be fine.

Almost perfect

I love this coat, I wanted Janelle coat first but my size has never been available. The only think I don’t like is beige fur-like lining In the hood for a dark navy coat. The other coat I mentioned has it matched. Other than that, great quality
