Thrilled with my driftwood mac

I was nervous about buying a light coloured mac, but was absolutely delighted with this when it arrived. More of a stone colour. Nice length over the bum. I took notice of the reviews and ordered a size down. Perfect fit. Can't wait to wear it.

Cloudburst Mac

This is a gorgeous, comfortable summer waterproof mac BUT the sleeves are way too long. However, because I really like the style and fit I decided to keep the coat and take it to a local tailor to have the sleeves shortened by four inches. It has now cost me a further £24!!!!

On another note, I hope you will have the Polperro Three Seasons coat available to buy again later this year - and the sleeves were a perfect length too!

Raincoat

Lovely raincoat but far too big for my usual size 16

Cloudburst Mac, Driftwood

Usually take size 18 and ordered online. Too big but rang around local Seasalt branches and one had a 16 that they saved for me. Easy exchange and very helpful and lovely staff. Perfect light colour for summer and I love, love the inside phone pocket. Bonus £25 off!

Great mac

I’m really pleased with this Mac which I bought in the Fathom colour. I’m only 5’ 2” but like the length on me. I nearly ordered a 16 as some size 14 tops can be a bit snug but after looking at the measurements went for a 14 which is plenty big enough with a sweatshirt on.. It got well and truly tested in a downpour yesterday and passed with flying colours and then dried off quickly afterwards. Much nicer and smarter than my old cagoule.

Cloudburst Mac

Really lovely, well-made coat. I ordered an 18 as I read that it had a bigger fit (I'm usually a 20). It was actually too big so I ordered a 16 which fitted perfectly (also got £25 off). Very light but strong material - ideal for spring walking in the rain. I have tried it out in an actual cloudburst and can confirm it is waterproof. Five stars.

Looks great but practicality needs improvement

I really like Seasalt as a company and there are many things I love about this coat, but lots of practical things that let it down. I kept it because it was a great price with the health workers discount (thank you so much for this), but even taking that into account, the lining and pocket situation were almost deal breakers. With some adjustments it could be wonderful, and I would buy it again (at full price) if these were fixed.

Pros:
- Lovely outer fabric, upper lining (cotton chambray) and colour (dark blue).
- Thrilled to find a slightly A-line shaped raincoat as none of your others go over my hips if they fit my upper body (I am a size 12 hourglass). More coat options in this shape please!
- The hood is great. Good size, stays up on its own, perfect.
- Lovely light weight - it isn't sweaty if it's warm but has space for layering up bulky jumpers underneath when it's cold.
- Totally waterproof.

Cons:
- The sleeves are ludicrously long. The adjustable cuff feature doesn't solve this and it's location actually makes it more difficult to roll the sleeves up or have them altered.
- The synthetic lining fabric in the lower half of the coat and the sleeves generates an awful lot of static. The coat is roomy enough that the lovely cotton chambray could have been used throughout without any detriment. I would pay more for a coat with a lining made entirely from natural fibres. Please consider this, maybe as a premium offering if needs be, as so much of your range prides itself on using natural fibres that the synthetics used in your coat linings seem an anomaly.
- The pocket situation is not good at all. There are no chest-height handwarmer pockets, so nowhere to rest/warm my hands when I am walking. The inner phone pocket is too small for my phone and the fabric too flimsy to withstand regular use. The lower outer pockets would be good if they were lined with substantial fabric (or more Tin Cloth), but they too are lined with the flimsy synthetic lining fabric and are uncomfortable to use and too weak to hold much, despite their size.
- A 2-way zip would be really useful. Without it, I have to undo the entire coat if I want to sit down in it, because otherwise it bunches up uncomfortably. With a 2-way zip, I could just loosen the bottom half and keep the rest closed for warmth.
- A popper tab hidden under the collar would be useful to fasten it closed when turned up, to keep out the wind.

I would be eternally grateful if you would consider making more A-line shaped coats, including some warmer ones with higher necks for windy days. We are not all a straight-up-and-down-shape and it would be wonderful to have some choice.

Thank you!

Beatiful coat but too large

The colour is beautiful and the material as well. However I think the style suits tall women more as it is quite wide cut at the bottom.

Slimming, not for the big bottomed

It looks lovely when standing up. When you sit down though it really scrunches tight against the hips and pushes up so there's tons of material around the stomach, there just isn't enough fabric for my hips somehow. Maybe it's my hourglass shape?

Perfect mac

I bought this mac in Driftwood to replace a Seasalt jacket that had finally worn out. It is exactly what I wanted - a really nice stone colour, perfect length and the fabric is a good weight. With a cotton jumper underneath, it has kept me warm on some of the chillier April days and I like the fact that it is roomy without appearing baggy or unstructured. This will be my go-to, take-everywhere coat for Spring, summer and Autumn!
