Fully waterproof, windproof and breathable

Our Westerly Mac (previously called the True North Mac) is a thing of beauty. It's refined and sophisticated enough for the city, but with all the technical prowess you'd expect from a Seasalt raincoat. It has a clean A-line shape that can be cinched with a removable popper belt, a detachable, adjustable hood, large collar and generous pockets. Fully sealed seams throughout in a contrast tape give it a premium finish.

Our technical team have used reverse welt pocket openings to help prevent rain from getting in, and developed a clever new waterproof fabric especially for this coat. Made from a hardwearing mix of cotton and polyester, it's cleverly bonded with a contrasting colour inside and has a matte, soft touch finish. Waterproofed inside and out, it's designed so you can roll the cuffs to your desired length and reveal a bright pop of colour. Burnished metal anchor snaps and leather pulls add the finishing touch. Part of the Seasalt RAIN® collection - find out more.

Sigh

I bought this for the long length in the arms, which is so hard to find even in Seasalts impressive range. Sadly it is short in the neck when wearing the hood, so that wearing my handbag across my body pulls the hood uncomfortably tight down on the top of my head. The depth of the hood is also small, getting my head wet when I have my hair tied up and sometime when I don't. It's tight around the bottom of the coat and so only a matter of time before the zip breaks.... when I crouch down to take care of my daughter I have to do a weird knees together to the side movement due the tightness and lack of two way zip. So it's a step in the right direction but I'm disappointed at the continued lack of catering for taller people

westerly mac

Most of the features of this coat are very good, great hood and cuffs BUT the material is so stiff that when walking along in the wind and the rain the centre front buckles under, making me wetter and feeling very uncomfortable. Everything else is brilliant but it is rendering the coat unfit for purpose and at £165 I certainly wouldn't have bought it had I known. I think Seasalt could look at this and maybe modify the flexibility of the coat in future.

Needs a couple of improvements

I bought the black with a fantastic green lining. There are a couple of things which get on my nerves after owning it for a few months. which may help others to know whether to buy it or not.

The buttons for the hood are on the underside of the collar so when you have the hood attached (most of the time this year when it can rain all of a sudden), the collar sticks up and doesn't really fold down so it gives a sort of evil witch look. Not cool as the coat without the hood is sleek. It means I now keep the hood in my bag and attach if it rains, a real pain when caught off guard outside. Also, not great if you don't want to take a bag out with you.

The other thing is a double zip (not sure what they're called) so you can zip it up and open it a little from the bottom, so you don't feel so rigid when you walk with it done up. Just a little thing which would've been great.

Westerly mac

It is absolutely fantastic, makes you feel good and it is a good fit. Not too heavy just right for all weather's, come rain or shine. Good quality material.

Very fashionable

Although I kind of wish I had purchased a size down, I can always wear a nice sweater and more winter layers with it being slightly larger than I had anticipated. Very smart and elegant looking and, of course, wonderful in rainy weather.

Super mac

Just received and delighted by the quality and fit. And that it has a very useful inside pocket (WHY do other manufacturers think women don't need them?). Elegant line, nice feel, and good for town and country use, I'd say. The acid green trim is a great colour too, zingy, but not too garish.

Haven't taken it out in a downpour yet but it looks pretty waterproof. All round, a lovely coat.

So pleased with this jacket

I fell in love with this jacket as soon as it arrived. It’s a flattering fit (I have just had a baby and it made me feel good) - I am in the midst of losing weight and so ordered two sizes and returning the bigger one was easy..

It looks like a super smart jacket yet you know if it rains you’ll be protected.

The quality is amazing and I’m so happy.

only the one zip

The only front fastening is a one way zip. this means no fastened but not closed option ie popers, and a one way zip too. This would have been enough for a return but also ...
I had to return the size 14 garment (should have been right size according to chart) as even without a jumper it was too tight.
will try a different jacket

Fantastic jacket - highly recommended

I adore this coat. Yes, it's a little pricey but for what you get I could not recommend it more. Fully waterproof (not just shower resistant like some) and smart enough to wear to work everyday. It's a rain coat and an autumn/spring jacket in one.

Size 8 is a little big (I'm usually an 8-10) but does mean there's room for layers on colder days. The belt keeps it looking fitted enough
