Fully waterproof, windproof and breathable.

A cosy raincoat designed at our studio over looking Falmouth Bay. Our River Sea Coat is made from cotton-rich waterproof fabric with a soft, peachy feel and subtle herringbone texture. The upper body is lined with Wellsoft® fleece, while the lower body is lined with quilted polyester for a soft and cosy feel, adding warmth without bulk. The sleeves are lined in polyester, so it’s easy to slip on and off featuring three poppers on the cuffs. Finished off with a two-way zip closure and poppers for a clean front, two patch pockets with popper closure and an adjustable hood with a tonal cord. Just add a pair of Seasalt wellies and you’re ready for anything the weather has to throw at you.

Inspired by traditional oilskins, our unique Tin Cloth® coats and jackets are crafted from hard wearing natural fabrics finished with our high-performance waterproofing treatment. The result is a waterproof, windproof and breathable jacket with a soft yet durable finish.

The coat fit me perfectly. High quality, it is very light and still warm and has beautiful design.

A good purchase

I'm delighted with this coat - not quite up to these near freezing temperatures but it has great windproof qualities plus a furry hood. It really is waterproof (so the fabric is a little stiff) but a clever design that is lovely to wear.

Just right

It took me a while to decide on this coat. I was looking at the plant hunter coat but the size and fit I wanted were out of stock. I am so pleased I chose this in the end. It fits really well. Not too long but long enough. Not too thick and bulky but still cosy and warm. Very pleased indeed with my new coat.

Great waterproof!

Love this coat. I wanted a waterproof which didn’t look like an anorak. This fits the bill perfectly.. i think it comes up quite big. Im usually a 16 but had to exchange for a 14. The smaller size is ample even with 3 layers underneath (2 degrees outside today!)
The colour is true to the website photo...a lovely matte finish in a dark orangey red.
Down sides? The sleeves are quite wide at the cuff....but then I’m used to anorak velcro fastenings.
I’m slightly concerned that the fabric might mark easily...I leant against a wall today and the dusty cement seemed to mark the coat, though a bit of rubbing seems to have removed it.
Allin all a great coat. Love it.

River sea

Its a nice jacket did not suit me. a bit shapeless. the 16 was too big and the 14 not quite big enough especially to allow for extra layers

River sea salt

Absolutely love the style of this raincoat and love it. Warm but not making me 'perspire', stylish, cosy and really really really like that it was delivered in a paper bag and was totally recyclable as well. Wish more companies would do it.

Great raincoat

It’s an understatement to call this a raincoat, it’s all weather and all purpose, I’ve worn it every day since it arrived. It’s warm, it’s windproof and the hood fits well. It’s the ideal length for me as I’m on the short side.

Like it, but...

I love Seasalt tincloth coats, of which I have several. This River Sea coat is no exception. However, my issue is with the pockets. A few years ago I bought the Tiller coat, which was very similar to the River Sea, but had double pockets on both sides: one patch pocket with poppers to keep things in and one to behind it to slip cold hands into. It was perfect. I don't think Seasalt has brought out anything similar to this since the Tiller. I also do not like the fabric being used inside the pockets - it is not robust and the stitches come undone. The Tiller pockets were a lot more hardy.
On a more positive note, I love the internal chest pocket for my keys, the adjustable hood, and the two-way zip. The Mahogany is a lovely colour, with a subtle reddish tinge.
If you are between sizes, I would recommend sizing down.

Lovely coat, not quite the colour in the magazine.

The coat is waterproof, that's for sure, beads of rain all over it. Fabric makes a strange rustling sound as you walk but it's not unpleasant. Not as warm as I expected it to be, it is more of an autumn raincoat than a winter coat. Good length, and sizing is accurate. The colour is called mahogony but the picture in the magazine looks more terracotta which was what I was expecting. I would call it conker.
