Fully waterproof, windproof and breathable

Our Plant Hunter Coat is a relaxed-fitting, parka-style coat ready to take on the elements! Made from beautifully soft, cotton-rich tincloth fabric, it falls to mid-thigh at the front and has a dipped, fishtail hem at the back with snap fastening vent. The top half of the coat is lined with cosy fleece fabric, while the bottom half is quilted to keep the chill at bay throughout the winter. The cosy, fleece-lined hood has an adjustable drawcord, and it has a handy two-way zip, snap fastening front pockets and poppered cuffs so you can roll the sleeves up or down.

Utterly disappointed

I was really disappointed with this coat. The pictures look amazing and it sounds great, but the pockets are pathetic, the woolly lining only comes down to your belly button, and there is no secure inner pocket for your valuables, just a phone pocket (or maybe I just couldn't find it?). Would be an amazing coat if it was actually functional, not just waterproof.

I bought this coat at full price (unheard of for me!) and was initially pleased. I was disappointed that it was thin and not nearly as padded as I had thought it would be but with fleece and/or sweater makes it good. The hood is perfect as it properly protects your face. It is also totally waterproof.
But it has been pointed out by my sister today (I have no idea how long it has been like it) the back part of the coat overhangs the poppers giving it an awful bagged/cheap coat look from the back. I obviously cannot now return it but it won't be worn except on the rainiest day for dog walking

Dear Holmemaker
Thanks for your review. The 'overhang' that you refer to at the back of the coat is actually a design feature, which allows easy movement and prevents the lining and outside fabric pulling as you walk. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact our friendly Customer Service Team on 01326 640075.
Best wishes, Seasalt

lovely print coat and true to size but very poor value for money.

With no backing on the zip which you would expect for the money it is extremely uncomfortable to wear. With the top of the zip rubbing on your chin.

No elastic on cuffs which again you would expect.

Overall extremely disappointed for £150

Disappointing - not warm & pockets not waterproof!

I'm sad to say I'm really disappointed with this coat. I bought it in late autumn, after checking with staff that it was warm enough to wear all through winter which they said it was - it's quite thin, which is why I asked.

It isn't a winter coat that you can just throw on to keep warm, it's just warm over a thick jumper, which any thin / spring / autumn windproof coat would be. Not as warm as other winter coats. But I still liked it.

First rainstorm I was out for 10 minutes - the pockets completely soaked through. The material seems to be the same all over, but it's as if the pockets aren't lined with the same waterproof protection. Wallet and phone completely drenched as in pools of water in the pocket, and having to dry my phone out. And sleeves soaking wet up to the elbows.
I didn't expect this from a coat saying it's 'waterproof'.

Dear lakne0
Thank you for your review of the Plant Hunter Coat. This certainly does not sound like the usual Seasalt high quality and one of our Customer Services Team will therefore be in touch with you very shortly.
Best wishes, Seasalt

sorry not for me

I was very disappointed in the quality of the fabric used for this coat - the outer fabric felt thin and flimsy and did not hang well and I thought the inner fleece looked , a bit like a cheap dressing gown. This is the second item I have purchased from Seasalt, last year I bought a Janelle coat, but again was disappointed and sent it back. I will stick with my ancient Stadium Squall for now until I find something of similar quality

Not Breathable

Whilst I love the look of this coat, it's just not breathable. I end up getting hot and sweaty where the fleece lining is even on cold days. I'm not a naturally hot person (I'm usually cold!) and have never had this problem with another coat. I'm really disappointed with it and would strongly recommend buying the non fleecy version instead.

Dear SK,
Thank you very much for your review and I'm sorry to hear that the Plant Hunter has been a bit warm for you. Our technical fabric is breathable, but if you get very hot it's possible that there could be a build up of moisture. The Hellweather might be better for you as it is unlined so that you could layer as appropriate underneath.
If you'd like any further assistance our Customer Service team will be more than happy to assist, don't hesitate to call or e-mail them.
Best wishes,

way too big

What a shame :( I ordered a size 16 as that is my normal size - way way too big - I was completely swamped in it - sadly had to go back.
