Longer sleeves please

Sleeves too short and a little tight at top but good enough to keep.

Returned, too creased

I received the Flagship coat and liked it. It fitted well. Very creased so I contacted Seasalt and was tod that it might need steaming. I tried a steamer, the outer wasn't too bad. The inner which I would have liked to wear on its own was very creased and steaming it made no difference whatsoever. It was so bad that it was not wearable. I was told by Seasalt staff that they may have been packed in the bags for a long time. I will think twice about ordering again from Seasalt and if they have them will order from John Lewis as they come on hangers without creases.

Disappointed

I purchased this coat online several weeks ago and on opening it found it to be very creased. These creases still haven't fully dropped out even after wearing it in heavy downpours . So I feel it looks really quite scruffy. I haven't worn the inner coat yet so can't comment on it but on the whole I'm very disappointed with it especially as it cerainly wasn't cheap. Not value for money!

Dear Kate,
Thank you for your review of the Flagship Coat; we're sorry to hear that the creases in your Seasalt Coat haven't dropped out yet.
We wouldn't recommend ironing the surface, as this might damage the special waterproof surface of the fabric. However, there is something else you might like to try: if your iron has a "continuous steam" setting (often used for items already hanging, e.g. curtains) this is extremely useful for reducing creases in garments. It's a similar process to the professional steamer machines used in many clothing shops.
Simply hang the coat up, then from a short distance away, use the continuous steam setting on a medium heat, to allow steam to penetrate the fabric without the iron actually touching the coat. It's usually very quick and effective.
Alternatively, you can hang the coat in a steamy environment, such as a bathroom for a short while. The creases should naturally fall out.
I hope this advice helps. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.
Best wishes, Seasalt

A bit plain and disappointing - Great inner jacket though

It is a lovely, lightweight coat, but just a little plain. Would be much better looking if it had some buttons on the back like the Plant Hunter. I love the padded inner jacket, which is reversible when worn on its own, but only buttons in one way into the outer.
I would have loved the pockets on the outer to be a little bit bigger and for jackets to have some sort of fastening on the pockets, so I can stop being paranoid about losing something or making it easy for pickpockets.
The hood could be slightly bigger as it doesn't cover my head and hair very well in the rain. There is a button in the hood to affix the inner jacket's hood. When I wear the coat without the inner I somehow always manage to get my hair tangled in it. One of the fasteners for the hood broke on day 1. Very disappointing.
I normally just wear the inner jacket underneath the Jibe Slouchy Parka, which is a great combination that has kept me warm and dry all winter.

I love it

I did get a size larger than normal as the shape is tighter at the top and flares out, ok if you lead shaped but if you're top heavy like me then I'd recommend going up a size. I love the length and I will be warm and dry in winter

Love Love Love

Coat fits very well like the Janelle Coat, feels much more snug than Janelle too.
The pockets are great ! very deep ideal for dog walking.
Many reviews talk about the sleeve length bieng too short which I agree with, however it didnt stop me purchasing the coat & doesnt bother me at all.
The quality of the coat is amazing as alaways this is my 4th Seasalt coat !

Sadly not for me

Beautiful coat, nice fit with space for thick layers - unfortunately wasn't quite as warm as I'd hoped for. I own a similar coat from another brand and couldn't justify having two of the same coat so have had to return.

Otherwise, it's surprisingly light and easy to move in and a great length.

useful coat

This coat was just what I wanted; long enough to keep my legs warm and dry, nice and warm, fastening right up to the chin, big pockets with flaps so things don't fall out and a zip plus press studs closure at the front. Very happy with it.

Really wanted to love this!

I ordered this coat as live on the coast of Cornwall & knew that this would be perfect for the wind and rain that occasionally comes in horizontal. The top was a wonderful fit, however the bottom half seemed to flare out and made we look VERY full in the hips. I do have an average size 12 shape & lack much in the hips, however this coat disappointed as it seemed to over-accommodate from the waist down. I did return it and Seasalt was good with a refund within a week or so. Will try with another style, but sad this wasn't the right one.

Dear Karen,

Thanks for your review; we're sorry to hear that the shape on the Flagship wasn't perfect for you.

We'd definitely recommend the Janelle Coat as a great alternative as it's a more fitted style with less flare.

Best wishes.

Inner jacket can only be attached one colourway.

Hi, I purchased this coat wanting to wear it as shown in the main photograph with the lining as grey with not much bright blue as not keen on the colour. The coat arrived with the bright blue as the lining, when I tried to use the poppers to fix it to the outside coat so that the grey was showing as the lining you cannot do it. If it not attached all you get is bright blue when you open the coat. I contacted customer service team, but they could not do it either, they offered me a discount or to take the coat back even though I have worn it. I just do not understand how they can say you can connect inner jacket to outer jacket as you can only do it with the bright blue as inner jacket showing as lining. I asked them to revise their description a few weeks ago but they still have not made this clear. To solve the problem I have sewn it where the poppers are for winter and I can unstitch it for warmer weather but it wasn't really what I thought I was buying, it's a shame because it is a very comfortable coat.
