Gorgeous dress

Just bought this in the sale and love it. Subtle shade of green, perfect fit and length and the fabric feels fabulous.

Lovely dress but those creases!?

I love this dress and want to keep it but the deep creases around the bottom near the hem won't drop out. Seems like it might have been in the small box it arrived in for ages before it was sent to me.
It's been hanging up since it arrived over a week ago, but the creases are still there. There are two white marks - or what look like marks - where the dress was folded one way and then the other, two inches above the hem on the two front dart seams as well. The velvet is flattened at these two points, giving the optical illusion they are white stains.
Is there any safe way to get the creases out? Help!!
Would hate to have to return it as I want to wear it over Christmas.

Hi

Thank you for reviewing your Clifton Hill Dress, but were so sorry to hear that the creases haven't dropped out yet.

This item can't be ironed, as this might damage the fabric; however, there is something else you might like to try: if your iron has a "continuous steam" setting (often used for items already hanging, e.g. curtains) this is extremely useful for reducing creases in garments. It's a similar process to the professional steamer machines used in

many clothing shops.

Simply hang the dress up, then from a short distance away, use the continuous steam setting on a medium heat, to allow steam to penetrate the fabric without the iron actually touching the dress. It's usually very quick and effective.

Alternatively, you can hang the dress in a steamy environment, such as a bathroom for a short while. The creases should naturally fall out.

I hope this advice helps, but if not, of course we'll arrange a 'no quibble' refund for you if you'd like to pop it back to us using your free post label.

Best wishes
Seasalt

Gorgeous!

I wore this to my Christmas party and got lovely comments, such as “A gorgeous dress” and “You look amazing”. I love the colour and it looks classy.

Beautiful dress but badly creased

I received my dress in the post yesterday - thanks Seasalt - and was so looking forward to trying it on. If fitted perfectly and looked really lovely.
However, even as I was taking it out of the box, I could see it was badly creased about one to two inches up from the bottom hem all the way round. There are marks along the crease lines in places which, from a distance, look like white stains. I think the creases have actually flattened the plush finish so much that the optical illusion it gives is that of a white stain.
There is also a very deep crease right across the front of the dress near the hem and crinkly creases at the sides, where the dress was folded one way and then another to make it fit in the box.
SOOOO disappointing and worrying. I've read the previous reviews about the creasing problem and am worried that if I attempt to steam it myself, I will damage it completely.
I'm loathe to return it as postage from Ireland is prohibitive and also, I may not receive a replacement before Christmas. Also, there's no guarantee that the replacement won't be just as creased. It's time someone had a chat with the packaging people...
Any ideas anyone?

Luxurious dress

This is a very luxurious dress. It is a beautiful colour too. It also fitted true to size.
But I was horror stricken when I read the label that said 'dry clean only'!! It is an expensive dress and I would be too scared to wear it. I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known. It does say that on the web site but I didn't see it.

velvet dress and another

I have over the years purchased many of your dresses and tops and been very happy.
I now look at your new ranges and find them very dull and 'frumpy'.
This is obviously just my opinion.

Elegant

Bought two different style velvet dresses for choice. Liked both, but turned this one down as it was a bit too long for me (I’m 5’5”), looked great with heels but not flats, and I would have liked the colour to be a more vibrant green. I felt it was a bit too subtle a shade, especially as I wanted it as a party dress.

Too creased to keep

This beautiful dress arrived with multiple deep creases around the neck and front. I was advised by customer services to try steam but this didn’t remove them. Since the dress is non iron, and dry clean only I had no alternative but to return it.
I was beyond disappointed.
Please Seasalt improve your packaging.

Lovely.

Sumptuous and flattering. I wore it to my first party of the season and 'elegant' was the word used to describe the dress. I felt stylish and sophisticated in a relaxed way. Thanks Seasalt!
