  • Business Analyst

    Falmouth Full Time Details

    Seasalt is a growing lifestyle retailer, situated on the beautiful Cornish coast, with over 50 shops and 400 stockists around the UK. Being a Cornish success story is something we are very proud of and with over 200 people based in our Falmouth head office, we’re one of Cornwall’s largest employers.

    With this growth comes ambitious innovation plans and a need to constantly review and evolve our systems and processes for efficiencies. As a Business Analyst within our Project Management Office (PMO) team, you will operate cross functionally on the development of projects across the business to support effective and efficient ways of working. At the start of the project lifecycle you will gather requirements, document ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ processes, identify areas for improvement and manage and support change control.

    This is an exciting and varied role for an experienced analyst to get involved in cross-departmental projects within a fast moving retail business, with scope to shape processes and procedures and be an integral part of an emerging project team.

    Key responsibilities

      • Establish “as is” processes using interviews, document analysis, workshops etc.
      • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources; reconcile conflicts; drill into high level information to get to the detail; obtain overall understanding and identify the true underlying needs
      • Identify opportunities for business improvement / efficiency through practical management solutions and work with the business to develop improvement and monitor benefits realised
      • Produce detailed business process mapping documents including workflow charts and diagrams
      • Provide support to systems Project Managers by monitoring project progress; tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports and recommending actions.
      • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyse information needs and functional requirements
      • Work with system implementers to ensure our business process requirements are met by new systems and propose alternatives if required
      • Produce detailed specifications and requirements for new systems
      • Recommend controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures.
      • Document the “to be” processes for new systems
      • Maintain system protocols by writing and updating standard operating procedures, user documentation and support documentation.
      • Provide and deliver training and the associated material including, advice in the use of business change and efficiency tools/models where assessment, incident or management identifies opportunity for improvement and efficiency gains
      • Support the end user during the transition process to the new ways of working.

    What we're looking for

    With a track record within business/ systems analysis, ideally retail, you’ll have proven experience of analysing data to draw relevant business conclusions. You’ll have good project management skills and knowledge of generating process documentation, plus advanced Excel skills. Previous experience in using Visio or MS Project would be beneficial.

    A strong communicator and people person, you’ll have proven stakeholder management skills, able to build good relationships and credibility with internal and external clients. You’ll be a good problem solver, able to identify solutions, create clarity and identify workable solutions. You’ll also have excellent organisational and planning skills, able to work autonomously to manage your own time and priorities.

    • Head of Project Management Office

      Falmouth Full Time Details

      Seasalt is a growing lifestyle retailer with over 50 shops and 400 wholesale stockists. With this exciting growth, comes ambitious innovation plans which will be delivered through a programme of projects. We have fantastic opportunity to lead our Project Management team, and deliver this programme.

      As Head of Project Management you will oversee all projects managed by the PMO to ensure on time delivery and to budget. You will work closely with other senior stakeholders to identify their needs and evaluate requirements for project management and business analysis services.

      Working closely with the Business Systems Team you will help deliver the Business Systems Strategy and will provide excellent project management services and communication to the company’s employees.

      You will also be responsible for the Project Management budget and will report to board and senior stakeholders on adherence to the programme timetable and significant project issues.

      Key responsibilities

        • Manage the PMO and its projects including project planning, documentation, communications, quality assurance and governance reviews, issue/risk management, budget management and reporting
        • Develop and maintain the company’s PMO Strategy, ensuring it is aligned to the wider Business Plan
        • Ensure that the company’s PMO processes and support services meet or exceed the business needs and SLAs, including through the use of 3rd parties
        • Work closely with project leads in other parts of the business (when a project is not led by the PMO) to provide process guidance and expertise to help the project lead run the project in accordance with Company best practice
        • Manage and develop the Project Managers, Business Analysts and other seconded and permanent resource in the Project Management Office
        • Source and manage external project management resource when required to manage or deliver a project
        • Establish appropriate PMO policies and procedures
        • Develop and maintain the company’s PMO strategy and tool kit

      What we’re looking for

      With proven experience of managing and developing a team in a fast paced commercial environment you will be able to develop PMO processes and standards and have the ability to deliver project objectives and ROI.

      The role will oversee a team of 8 or more, so significant team management and development experience is essential, along with the ability to develop and maintain relationship with senior stakeholders and establish your credibility within the business.

      With additional experience of rolling out project management processes and standards for an organisation it is vital for the role that you have excellent analytical/problem solving aptitude alongside knowledge of multiple project management methodologies such as Agile, SureStep and Prince2.

      Strong commercial acumen, an ability to work under pressure and remain calm whilst being creative and innovative will be the key to success within in this role.
