LOVE this coat

I don't consider myself a seasalt brand kind of girl but I LOVE this coat - I needed a waterproof coat that still looked nice for when I am out and about with my little ones and this is perfect. Lovely length, great material and warmer than expected but not bulky. The zip being off centre adds something different to it. Very happy with purchase.

I was searching for a modern looking long waterproof coat and here it is. Lightweight but still warm, and the length keeps me dry on dog walks. The off centre zip looks great....but the best thing is it’s completely waterproof! I used the size checker and it is spot on size-wise.

Fantastic coat!

I absolutely love this. I am back in the office but walking to work every day so needed something that is properly warm and waterproof, and I was so fed up of carrying an umbrella - a well-fitting hood was a must. This coat ticks all the boxes - and I love the fact it’s made from recycled bottles! The drawstring waist means I don’t look like an ambulatory duvet - and the offset zip is really stylish as well as practical.

Perfect winter wear

The Pentewan coat is the best coat I think I’ve ever bought for myself. It’s incredibly light, warm, comfortable and also very stylish with its side zip and longer back. I also love the cozy inner sleeve cuffs. I’d buy another if it was in a brighter colour, like teal or sea green. Next year??

The sleeves were too short I tried to exchange but could not do it on the webpage.

I like how lightweight it is. Rainproof and warm enough.
Like the warm cuffed sleeve detail and the shapely hem at the back. Got size 12 because I prefer having a loose fit around my hips when zipped up, but could easily have taken a 10 as well. I'm about 160cm and this reaches below my knees, looks nice.

I love Seasalt coats and have 3 to date but all pretty old so I decided to purchase this new coat to update my old light blue Janelle which I stupidly washed using a fabric conditioner once, rather than Nikwax wash (a later discovery) and it has never been waterproof since!

My verdict: mmmm plus points- love the idea of fabric from recycled bottles and a totally waterproof long, perfect length- am 5ft 8” - (bum covering) coat for walks and watching my daughter play rugby. The asymmetrical zip drew me to the design, I like the cuff sleeves though they’re a bit short for me and the coat hood is snuggly. It’s a bit like wearing a sleeping bag.
Negative points- it feels like a prototype or a half finished design and needs tweaking. There are no zip pockets inside or out and I loved the inside zip pocket on the Janelle. The drawstrings don’t feel finished- a bit like boot laces that are too long but with nowhere to tuck them in once they are drawn to indicate that somewhere under the sleeping bag there is a waist (honest)! Unfortunately the colour is only just bluer than black and makes me look as ill as if I was wearing black. (I’m too pale for black). If the colour was navy I may have kept the ‘sleeping bag’ for the touch line and thought, ‘Who cares if it looks like I have no waist, I’m nice and snuggly?’ However, when my daughter said I looked like the grim reaper (bit harsh), I knew I needed to exchange it for the navy Janelle (love the length) or the mast colour Plant Hunter coat. A tough decision as I am about to embrace a downpour in order to return the Pentewan coat. Keep tweaking Seasalt- you’ll get there with this idea. Just add some inside zip pockets, some inside fleece for warmth made from recycled plastic, sort out the waist, explore some different colours, add an inch to the sleeves and add some faux round the hood to keep the wind out. Done! 😉

The coat I've been waiting for

The photos of this coat do not do it justice!
The style reminds me a little of the high-end Scandinavian designer coats I love but can’t afford these days.

At Seasalt I’m a size 12 for tops and size 16 for trousers, and my 6-year-old size-16 Janelle coat is now a little too tight around my hips, but a size 18 Janelle swamps me.
I ordered this coat in size 16 as the measurements chart indicates it has a bit more room at the hip than the Janelle.
It fits me perfectly, and I can even sit down with it fastened and with a hat and gloves in the pockets!

I initially thought that the internal rib cuffs might be annoying when wearing the coat over a chunky winter cardigan but, if I pull the cardigan cuffs through the ribbing and turn them back over it, it makes for extra cosiness!
The only thing I was slightly disappointed about was the lack of a zipped inside pocket.

I’m not sure whether this coat will be warm enough for the very coldest weather, so I’ll hang on to my Janelle (even though I have to unzip it to sit down) for another winter and/or until you produce another design the shape of the Pentawan but with the padding of the Janelle.

Also note that this coat is knee-length, rather than thigh-length as it says in the details.

Stylish mac

I like plain clothes and wins as it isn’t shiny, and doesn’t have anything ‘over engineered’ about it! I would even have preferred it if the waist drawcord was on the inside. The fabric feels good.
Functionally, an internal pocket and a discreet popper at the waist, like the one at the collar would have been even more perfect!
Im5’4 and usually a 14, but the 12 fitted better without drowning me.
