Looks great but practicality needs improvement

I really like Seasalt as a company and there are many things I love about this coat, but lots of practical things that let it down. I kept it because it was a great price with the health workers discount (thank you so much for this), but even taking that into account, the lining and pocket situation were almost deal breakers. With some adjustments it could be wonderful, and I would buy it again (at full price) if these were fixed.

Pros:
- Lovely outer fabric, upper lining (cotton chambray) and colour (dark blue).
- Thrilled to find a slightly A-line shaped raincoat as none of your others go over my hips if they fit my upper body (I am a size 12 hourglass). More coat options in this shape please!
- The hood is great. Good size, stays up on its own, perfect.
- Lovely light weight - it isn't sweaty if it's warm but has space for layering up bulky jumpers underneath when it's cold.
- Totally waterproof.

Cons:
- The sleeves are ludicrously long. The adjustable cuff feature doesn't solve this and it's location actually makes it more difficult to roll the sleeves up or have them altered.
- The synthetic lining fabric in the lower half of the coat and the sleeves generates an awful lot of static. The coat is roomy enough that the lovely cotton chambray could have been used throughout without any detriment. I would pay more for a coat with a lining made entirely from natural fibres. Please consider this, maybe as a premium offering if needs be, as so much of your range prides itself on using natural fibres that the synthetics used in your coat linings seem an anomaly.
- The pocket situation is not good at all. There are no chest-height handwarmer pockets, so nowhere to rest/warm my hands when I am walking. The inner phone pocket is too small for my phone and the fabric too flimsy to withstand regular use. The lower outer pockets would be good if they were lined with substantial fabric (or more Tin Cloth), but they too are lined with the flimsy synthetic lining fabric and are uncomfortable to use and too weak to hold much, despite their size.
- A 2-way zip would be really useful. Without it, I have to undo the entire coat if I want to sit down in it, because otherwise it bunches up uncomfortably. With a 2-way zip, I could just loosen the bottom half and keep the rest closed for warmth.
- A popper tab hidden under the collar would be useful to fasten it closed when turned up, to keep out the wind.

I would be eternally grateful if you would consider making more A-line shaped coats, including some warmer ones with higher necks for windy days. We are not all a straight-up-and-down-shape and it would be wonderful to have some choice.

Thank you!

Beatiful coat but too large

The colour is beautiful and the material as well. However I think the style suits tall women more as it is quite wide cut at the bottom.

Slimming, not for the big bottomed

It looks lovely when standing up. When you sit down though it really scrunches tight against the hips and pushes up so there's tons of material around the stomach, there just isn't enough fabric for my hips somehow. Maybe it's my hourglass shape?

Perfect mac

I bought this mac in Driftwood to replace a Seasalt jacket that had finally worn out. It is exactly what I wanted - a really nice stone colour, perfect length and the fabric is a good weight. With a cotton jumper underneath, it has kept me warm on some of the chillier April days and I like the fact that it is roomy without appearing baggy or unstructured. This will be my go-to, take-everywhere coat for Spring, summer and Autumn!

Gorgeous Waterproof

I bought the Cloudburst Mac in the Fathom colour, which is gorgeous! This is a fabulous waterproof and lightweight jacket for those wet and cool Spring, Summer and Autumn days, and mild winter days. It is VERY ample in sizing. I would generally go for a size 20 as I like coats to be roomy to wear layers underneath. But I had to return that one because it was enormous! I reordered a size 18 and though that one is also a bit big, it'll be great for colder days when I wear layers or a heavier fleece/jumper underneath. This is my second Seasalt coat (I bought the Plant Hunter coat last year, and it has been my 'go to' outerwear all winter on long daily dog walks and foraging expeditions, both in the countryside). Highly recommend the Cloudburst Mac - dependable in all types of rain, a beautiful colour, lovely style to the coat and another superb item of outerwear from Seasalt (which is rapidly becoming my favourite shop)!

Smart and stylish

Lovely stylish raincoat which will look great either walking in the countryside or a rainy day out for lunch in town with the girls.
“A” line shape makes it look smarter than a cagoule but just as waterproof.
Lovely driftwood colour goes with anything. Nice one Seasalt.

Stiff fabric

Love the chalk colour and also like the style although like another reviewer I thought it would work better with a vent at the back hem. On the downside was the sizing as one was too small and the other too big, sleeves also very long - much prefer those that fold back to make a neat cuff. Oddly the tin cloth was very stiff in this garment making it stand out rather like a lampshade, so the negatives outweighed the positives for me. Please bring back the gorgeous Porthchapel style in some bright colours - I own four and to me they are the ideal lightweight raincoat.

Goldilocks moment

Having returned a Coverack (too small across the bust but too big elsewhere) and Seafarer (just too big with an unmanageably huge hood) this one was just right! The fabric is lovely and soft but clearly waterproof. The lining is lovely and makes it easy to slip on and off. The hood fits well and is anchored in the wind. Absolutely delighted with it.

Perfect spring coat

I've been looking for a decent coat for a while now. My trusty raincoat is too warm for the spring weather so ordered this in my usual size. It's absolutely perfect and I've had so many compliments when wearing it. The length is spot on (I'm 5'6") and the colour is perfect for this time of year. It hangs beautifully too and has really roomy pockets. 100% recommend this coat.
