100% Modal

Modal is silky-soft, breathable and made from sustainably-sourced wood pulp.

An elegant, easy-fitting calf length dress made from luxuriously soft modal. Our Photographic Dress has a gently fitted waist band with gathers at the bust and waist for a flattering silhouette. The body and skirt are lined in recycled polyester, so it drapes beautifully. It’s finished with a V-neck, elbow-length sleeves and an invisible side zip.

A new favourite

I’ve several other Seasalt dresses I wear regularly but this might be my favourite, it’s lovely to wear, hangs beautifully, and didn’t crease after a day in the office. Hope it returns next year in a new print. I’m between sizes (8 or 10 depending on style) in Seasalt and the size 8 is a perfect fit.

Lovely dress

The dress is beautiful, exactly as shown in the pictures. The fit is perfect and the style flattering. I particularly love the fabric--a great fan of modal or modal cotton fabric, as they are so comfy!

Gorgeous

I received this yesterday and wore it immediately. I partly only got it because it was on sale as I thought the gathering under the bust might not work on me but having a huge bust it didn’t actually show! I actually think it looks better on me than the model😆. I would have given it 5 stars as I LOVE the print and fabric but I am 5’9” and would have really loved a Tall version.

Lovely style and fit, but darker colours than I expected.

Natural materials please

I love the look of this dress and would have bought it if it had a natural lining rather than polyester. I agree with the other reviewer that the reason I keep coming back to Seasalt is for the beautiful dresses made from 100% natural fibres. Please keep up the lovely designing with natural materials : )

photographic dress

I loved the colours , design and flattering fit. However the dress was too long for my style and I did not like the material. (i felt that it would crease too easily)

Hi Alison

Thank you for reviewing the Photographic Dress. We're sorry to hear that it wasn't perfect for you this time and of course we'll arrange a 'no quibble' refund for you if you'd like to pop it back to us using your free post label.

We've got some beautiful dresses in our new collection. The Botanic Dress might just be perfect so do take a look...

Best wishes

No polyester, please

Hi Seasalt,
First I have to say I love your dresses and I have several of them. The reason why I love Seasalt clothing so much is that my size is UK 20 and it’s generally hard to find feminine dresses in big sizes which don’t look like tents in my country. The other reason is that I’m very picky with materials and Seasalt uses mostly lovely natural materials like cotton, linen and wool. Lately I’ve noticed the appearance of recycled polyester in dress linings.
So I have a kind request: please don’t use polyester in your clothing. I understand it’s recycled, but it’s still polyester (doesn’t breathe, the feel is rough on skin and it pills easily.)
I’d love to buy this Photographic dress too, but I won’t because of the lining material.

Comments:

Thanks for your review and feedback. We use linings ( in this case polyester) to improve the comfort and durability of our products. We’ve looked at a number of options with regard to linings: We could just leave the lining out, but this would compromise the wearability and comfort. Ideally we need to fit a lining that allows the dress to ‘slide and glide’ so that it doesn’t snag on undergarments such as tights. Alternatives to polyester linings such as Cotton, grip and can cause fabrics to ride up so these are not always practical. Silks are very costly and we don’t want to pass on the cost of this to our customers.

The design teams are always looking to source new innovations, best aesthetics , top performance and quality at a workable price. Sustainability is a key focus for our fabric sourcing in coming seasons. I will pass your comments to design and they will take this into account when selecting the final cut for future collections.

So for the current collections, we do need to use a good quality polyester to achieve the functionality and comfort that we expect our products to provide. We are working towards more sustainable options in the future.
