There’s a great walk over the back of Perran sand dunes before dropping down on to the beach just by the MOD boundary. I walk this with my black dog a lot and usually we’re pretty much the only people at that end of the beach – but on Monday we were rather surprised to find this magnificent mermaid.
Our lovely girls from the Seasalt shop in Fowey have been very busy over the last few weeks, not only with a busy shop to run, but planning for and taking part in this year’s Fowey Regatta, which is always the highlight of the summer season! Carole, the Fowey shop manager, sent us in this lovely report of what they got up to… Read the rest of this entry »
This weekend the World Rowing Champs kick off at Bled, Slovenia, featuring none other than our two lovely southwest Seasalt rowers, Annie Vernon and Helen Glover!
The championships take place from 28th August – 4th September and it’s a crucial meet as it’s a chance for the top crews to qualify for next year’s Olympics.
We love a nice garden here at Seasalt! You just have to look at the prints in our collections to see that we get a lot of inspiration from the beautiful flowers that grow around us! We are really spoilt for choice with so many lovely gardens to visit in Cornwall such as Trebah, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden and Trevarno and that’s only a few!
Two weeks ago I went for a spontaneous visit to Trelissick Gardens, a beautiful National Trust estate on the water’s edge of the Fal Estuary near Truro. It was so beautiful and peaceful and the colours of all the different plants and flowers amazed me. Well Falmouth Week draws to a close this weekend and what a week it’s been! Every night there’s been something fantastic for everyone to enjoy and the town has been positively buzzing.
If you happen to be in the area of the beautiful town of St Ives, Cornwall this Thursday, pop on down to the RNLI Lifeboat station and join in the celebrations for the annual RNLI St Ives Lifeboat Day!
Recently we have noticed a rather wonderful old coach lurking round our office here in Falmouth sparking nostalgic memories of 80’s school trips, well for some anyway. On closer inspection not all is as it seems, this grand 1969 AEC Reliance/Plaxton coach sports the branding of King Harry Coaches and displays ‘Cruise Ship’ as it’s destination. It’s not such a strange title as the coach is actually a cruise ship shuttle bus, though what it was doing here is anyone’s guess, a surprise cruise holiday for us all perhaps?
What an exciting week we have ahead of us here in Falmouth, not only do we have the fantastic annual Falmouth week getting underway from tomorrow but we also have Hollywood heart throb Brad Pitt in town filming his latest movie – how exciting!
Falmouth Week is now claimed to be the largest sailing regatta in the South West with over 300 yachts taking part in the races over the 8 days. As well as the races, there is a packed programme of events going on at various venues around Falmouth.
We are always more than happy to hear from fans who tell us of there favourite Seasalt clothing, how they enjoy them and equally how well travelled they are. Occasionally though we discover our clothes enjoying a new found use when they are no longer being worn, though this of course is after a long and loyal life!
