Creating our Christmas windows displays is one of the windows team’s favourite projects each year. We caught up with Kathryn to find out more about this year’s enchanting displays.

We start working months ahead to create a range of concepts, then in September, we begin creating all the elements we need to bring the final design to life.

Watch our Christmas window displays come to life…

The Christmas window displays this year are inspired by winter festivities in Cornwall, particularly Rogue Theatre’s winter shows in the heart of Tehidy Woods, which begin with an atmospheric walk through the woods, softly illuminated by strings of lights hung from the trees.

It’s this sense of magic and wonder we’ve tried to recreate with our windows. We have handmade paper lanterns hanging off tree branches with fairy lights. Moths that inhabit the woods are drawn to the lights.

We’ve made them from paper and have stitched wire in their wings, so we can move them to look like they are flying. We’ve recreated some of their distinctive markings using a block lino print design, which links in with the theme of printmaking from our latest collection.

Each shop team will spend a day installing the design in their windows, along with some of our favourite outfits for the festive season and a sprinkling of gift ideas for all the family.
