Catching Up With Matt, 12 Months On

It’s been 12 months since Matt, our second Leach Pottery apprentice, started his appointment at the world-renowned Cornish pottery. We’ve been catching up with Matt to see how he’s been getting on.

Watch our video to see how Matt’s progressed in his role:

Before his appointment as an apprentice at the pottery, Matt was working as a Head Chef, as well as hanging exhibitions at the Millennium Gallery in St Ives. Without a formal background in ceramics but an obvious creative interest, Matt will now have the chance to train and work alongside Leach’s highly talented team of potters to learn the craft and develop his skills and style in ceramics. It’s a truly enviable opportunity.

I am proud to be a part of the Leach Pottery which is such a big part of the art history of the town I grew up in

Matt says, “This is an unbelievable opportunity to have the chance to do something that gives you satisfaction and that you enjoy as a job. I am proud to be a part of the Leach Pottery which is such a big part of the art history of the town I grew up in.”

The Leach Pottery is delighted with the appointment of their new apprentice, and we wish Matt all the best for his time spent at the Leach!
