How To Make Paper Beads
It wouldn’t be Christmas at Seasalt without us getting crafty. Our latest catalogue, Have a Seasalty Christmas, comes with patterned strips down the side of each page for you to cut out and make your own decorations.
There are lots of different ways the strips can be used, and we’ll be bringing you tutorials throughout the month for inspiration.
Our first tutorial shows you how to make paper beads. String them on a necklace, a simple bracelet, or add to the end of string and wrap around gifts to give presents an extra special twist.
How to make paper beads:
Step 1
Carefully cut out the page strips.
Step 2
Cut off the corners on one side so you end up with a straight edge at one end and a pointed edge at the other.
Step 3
Turn your strip upside down so the side you want to show is face down on the table then place a cocktail stick roughly an inch in from the straight edge.
Step 4
Fold the strip over the cocktail stick and glue in place.
Step 5
Run glue along the strip and begin to roll the paper around the cocktail stick.
Step 6
Repeat for each bead…
Step 7
Thread the beads onto the string.
TOP TIP: coat the beads in a thin layer of varnish (clear nail varnish works a treat) to keep beads sealed and give them a slight shine.
