Learn more about the local makers who handcraft our bespoke Christmas gifts
We’re lucky to be surrounded by a creative community of passionate local makers, who craft beautiful products inspired by our home.
This year, we’ve filled our Christmas Gift Shop with even more natural skincare sets, home fragrance, luxury chocolate and more, created in partnership with our friends in Cornwall. Read on to find out a little more about them.
Established in 1998 on the Trevarno estate, just 12 miles away from our design studios in Cornwall, Organic Trevarno creates high-performance natural skincare in an ethical, sustainable way.
We worked with Trevarno’s expert team to develop our bespoke blends of oils for our skincare gift sets. We’ve pulled together our favourite combinations of products and packaged them beautifully, so they’re sure to wow under the tree. From the Cornish Retreat Kit to our Rest & Revive Set, we hope they evoke some of the rejuvenating qualities of the local landscape.
“Our Cornish surroundings have a big influence on our collection, so when Seasalt asked us to create some bespoke scents, reminiscent of the Cornish coast and countryside, it seemed the perfect pairing!
The beauty of our products is in their simplicity. Trevarno’s ethos is about using all-natural ingredients that we know will work with benefits that have stood the test of time. The same can be said of our production methods. We are proud that we have always made our products by hand in Cornwall.
Our collaboration with Seasalt has been extremely creative, resulting in adorable gift sets, created by Trevarno and packaged in Seasalt’s gorgeous designs.” – Sarah, Organic Trevano
St Eval Candle Company
Based in North Cornwall on a working farm, St Eval Candle Company began crafting candles by hand in the family kitchen. Over 25 years on, they strive to keep traditional crafts alive and take inspiration from their beautiful surroundings in the Cornish countryside. Their candles and fragrances evoke the beautiful landscape around us.
If you ever find yourself nearby, we can highly recommend a visit to the St Eval factory. Not only can you watch their candles being made but you can also pay a visit to their wildlife haven, which looks out across the rolling Atlantic. St Eval is almost carbon neutral, with their wind turbine and a biomass boiler.
“It’s a pleasure working with such talented and creative minds to help develop a range, which is not only beautifully unique, but also born from a fantastic synergy between two Cornish heritage brands.
Combining the traditional, artisan methods and high quality products that St. Eval is known for, with Seasalt’s iconic charm and flare. From concept through to the finished product, we work closely with Seasalt to ensure the product is true to their vision. We hope to continue to collaborate and develop many more beautiful gifts together in the future.” – Sara-Jayne from St Eval
Close to the St Eval factory, Kernow Chocolate is heaven for anyone with a sweet tooth – a real-life chocolate factory, here in Cornwall. For nearly 15 years, Alex and his family have been hand making deliciously flavoured chocolate bars, using sustainably grown, ethically sourced chocolate. As part of the Cocoa Horizons™ programme, every bar of chocolate they make contributes to sustainable chocolate cultivation, improving farmers’ incomes and quality of life.
We’ve worked with them this year to bring you a trio of mini bars in our favourite flavours: golden honeycomb, mint infusion and of course, sea salt caramel. In fully recyclable packaging designed by our in-house artists, they’re the perfect stocking filler (or Friday treat).
Lorna Wiles Textiles
A fun little present at any time of year, our tea towels are a firm favourite that grace the kitchens at our Falmouth design studios. Our talented artists create all the illustrations in-house and they’re then screen-printed on to Soil Association certified, organic cotton tea towels at Lorna Wiles Textiles, in Lostwithiel, in south Cornwall. The inks used are water-based and non-toxic, so there are no harmful chemicals to leach into the environment.
We think our tea towels look beautiful framed. Your very own Seasalt artwork.
As well as funding an apprentice bursary at the world-renowned Leach Pottery in St Ives, we also sell a selection of pieces that are made just for us. Apprentice Annabelle updates us regularly with what she’s working on and it’s wonderful to be part of such iconic pottery.
Our handmade Leach Mugs, made from St Agnes clay, make the perfect gift for those who just can’t do without their morning brew.
Of course, we can’t talk about Cornish talent without mentioning our very own Seasalt team, of illustrators, painters, photographers and designers. As well as working hard throughout the year to create everything from packaging to catalogues, for Christmas they’ve pulled even more out of the bag to create extra special gifts, woven with stories of Cornwall.
New for this year is our calendar, featuring 13 illustrations of Cornish views and wild places we love, by artist Matt Johnson. Our Christmas cards are back too, with all profits going to The Mermaid Centre, which provides breast care for more than 12,000 women every year from its base in the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.
