You’re invited to Falmouth’s Virtual Sea Shanty Festival

Our hometown’s biggest party is being held online, so tune in on Saturday 19th June for live music and shanty singalongs.

Shanty singing has enjoyed a bit of a revival in recent times and we’ve always been fans here at Seasalt. Once used to set the rhythm of work in large sailing ships, the simple melodies and call-and-reply refrains have made them beloved in harbourside pubs around the world.

Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival is the largest celebration of the unifying, unique sound of shanties in Europe, and every year we’re so proud to sponsor this free music event.

This year the festival is being held online, so warm up your voice, don your best stripy Sailor Shirt and get ready to enjoy uplifting sounds and storytelling lyrics from the comfort of your own home.

Tune in from 6pm on Saturday 19th June on Facebook or YouTube to watch over 40 group performances and take part in a karaoke singalong.

The event is completely free to view, but organisers are asking for contributions on the festival website. The festival has raised over £70,000 for the RNLI since it started in 2003, and this year all donations will be used to fund the RNLI’s life-saving work as well as future festivals.

To donate and find out more visit the Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival website. We’ll see you there!
