Discover the coastal inspiration behind our latest collection.
Our designs are sewn with stories inspired by the natural beauty of our home here in Cornwall. Capturing the spirit of long, sun-drenched days, this month’s collection of timeless styles draws on bright palettes and breezy textures to conjure carefree hours spent exploring the coast of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The lofty blue blooms of Cornish agapanthus bobbing above the grasses signal the arrival of summer, and with it, our search for quiet stretches of sand that takes us to secret beaches and hidden creeks. Walk the cliff path for long enough and catch the right tide, and for a few precious hours as the water ebbs, small, secluded bays reveal themselves. Paddle a kayak to explore the Helford and Fal rivers where winding inlets peacefully lead you to shaded banks dotted with ox-eye daisies, sea thrift and English stonecrop.
The clear sea sparkling in these hidden coves is reflected in the brilliant turquoise hues we’ve chosen for some of this month’s simple silhouettes. They pop alongside sunny mellow yellows and other easy-to-wear pieces in swingy styles. Fluid natural fabrics flourish with characterful florals and ditsy prints, evoking the drifts of wildflowers blossoming around these scenic coastal routes and waterways.
Inspiration from the inky tidal rock pools that fill our sketchbooks comes to life in our prints and flow through our colour capsules. Amid silver flashes of fish, waving anemones and the rusty shades of scuttling crabs, Seasalt print designer, Kathryn, saw urchin shells which she rendered in dotted marks to make up the graphic pattern on our Belle Dress. This design, like lots of others in the collection, is easy to dress up or down and looks just as good with statement jewellery and heels as it does pared back with our Open Skies Sandal or Little Porth Espadrille.
When the lingering heat of the day finally fades, layer on simple pieces like our Port Quinn Top or Fal View Cardigan, then stretch out the twilight hours until it’s time to head for home.
