Sophie & the Missoni Exhibition

Yesterday was a perfect day. The sun was out, and I had a day on my own in London. I went to see the newly opened Missoni exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum, opened by Zandra Rhodes. It is a small, but brilliant museum. They even allow you to take photos (without flash). There is a well stocked little shop, full of textiles goodies, and a great, and cheap, cafe. I had a coffee whilst waiting for the museum to open, and tasty salad for lunch afterwards. I wish I had been hungrier as the cakes looked AMAZING.

The exhibition was really inspirational, a mix of paintings that have influenced Otavio and Rosita Missoni, mannequins dressed in their fabulous knits, huge wall hangings, and videos.

I particularly loved some of the colour combinations, and I wanted to take home with me a funky belt buckle in the shape of a liner. Upstairs there were display cases full of striped and zig zag swatches, and felt tip sketches for knit layouts and colour ways.

I strongly recommend anyone to visit this little museum in Bermondsey, and I look forward to going back myself soon.
