The Lottie Dress Story

Meet Lottie – the Seasalt lady our famous tea dress is named after.

Imagine falling in love with a dress and then having it named after you. Well that’s exactly what happened to Lottie, Seasalt buying assistant and namesake to our famous printed tea dress.

Here at Seasalt we like to test drive all of our clothes during the design and fit stage; it helps us ensure we’re making comfortable, beautiful clothes that can stand the wear and tear of everyday life. As the samples come into the office we check them for colour, print quality, detailing, sizing and everything that ensures the product is perfect before we approve the full production.

A 1950s-style, cotton tea dress, in a print inspired by the traditional Working Boats that race in Falmouth Bay, caught the eye of our vintage savvy Lottie.

Lottie says…

I’ve always loved vintage style clothing and fell in love with the dress as soon as I saw it. Luckily for me I was asked to trial wear it and my reaction was so head over heels that the design team were inspired to name it after me!

I knew it would be a winner with our customers – it looks great with brogues or dressed up with some heeled sandals for a summer evening out.

It’s a flattering shape, in soft cotton, with pretty detailing and in gorgeous Seasalt prints. What’s not to love?

Enduring appeal

First appearing in our 2013 collection, The Lottie Dress became a bestseller and one of our most loved dresses, so, keep a look out for new prints every summer!
