Wet weather experts since 1981
From our first shop on Adelaide Street in Penzance, we sold traditional workwear to local farmers, fishermen and artists. Inspired by this coastal community, we went on to design our own collections
Founder, Neil Chadwick has held on to this yellow oilskin since those early days. Its authentic style and durability were the inspiration for our exclusive, waterproof fabric, Tin Cloth®.
Horizontal Cornish Rain
From our design studios in Falmouth, working closely with our long standing suppliers, we developed a hardwearing fabric that’s 100% waterproof and breathable - perfect for walking on Cornish clifftops.
“All our raincoats are thoroughly tested. We make them with a waterproof and breathability rating of 5000/5000 and taped seams (to stop the water getting through the stitch holes). This means they’re suitable for heavy rain but still breathable for comfort.” Lucy, Technical Product Director
Our waterproof Janelle Coat is a bestseller every season, thanks to its flattering fit, cosy warmth and practical features. ”We’ve developed this coat over the years to keep it contemporary and add useful details, like the reflective strips. It’s the perfect combination of style and practicality.” Sue, Seasalt Design Director
We’ve always loved the way the artists of St Ives adopted the utilitarian clothing of the fishermen. Our workwear jackets are inspired by their practical style, made from characterful cotton canvas that gets even better with age. Here’s our famous Gwithian Jacket, worn by Leach Pottery Apprentice, Annabelle.
The Tin Cloth® Family
We extended our Tin Cloth fabric family to include organic cotton, linen and rip-stop cotton. What’s special about Tin Cloth® is its soft feel and natural character – people can’t believe it’s 100% waterproof.
We created this fun, lightweight waterproof jacket because you just never know! We all own one of these useful macs and we add fresh prints to the collection each season.
Winter Coats in Boiled Wool
Cosy luxury for frosty Cornish mornings. We choose boiled wool for its beautiful texture and enduring quality. It offers warmth, protection from the wind and even a light shower, because the fibres are woven so closely together.
Raincoats Made from Recycled Bottles
In 2019, we introduced our new waterproof fabric, Tide Cycle®. Developed for style and performance, it fights the elements and ocean plastic too, saving even more bottles flowing into our seas.
Single-use plastic bottles are collected and broken down.
The small plastic particles are then re-spun into polyester fibres.
These are then woven into the Tide Cycle® fabric we use for our all-weather coats.
Our talented design team in Cornwall continue to innovate, developing new styles and putting our waterproof fabrics to the test. Look out for some exciting new outerwear, including our versatile 3 in 1 jacket, arriving this autumn!
