Take a look around our Falmouth shop after its recent facelift with thanks to our retail design.
After two weeks of very hard work from our retail design team, we’ve given our Falmouth shop a little facelift. The second shop we ever opened, we’ve been there on Church Street since 1996 and our collections are designed just a mile away in our studios overlooking Falmouth Bay.
If you’ve visited a few Seasalt shops, you may have noticed that although there’s a common Seasalt style, each shop is unique and we let our interior design be led by the architecture of the building. In Falmouth, we have lots of space and a large shop front to play with which means our flagship shop is where our monthly window displays make their debut, before anywhere else. Our windows design team work from a studio above the shop, and you can often spot them along with our visual merchandisers, trying out new ideas and displays in the windows and on the shop floor.
We’ve been lucky enough to work for several years now with award-winning, Cornwall-based designer Tom Raffield.
His signature, steam-bent wooden designs now feature in all of our shops. We love the way his elegant light fittings and furnishings complement our collections and the sustainably sourced wood sits beautifully with our interior aesthetic. In Falmouth we’ve added more of his designs, like the Urchin Pendants, which hang from the ceiling and illuminate the shop with a soft warmth peeking through the strips of oak.
All around the walls we’ve added little messages and illustrations from our in-house team of artists, including sketches of Cornish luggers and fishing boats, which can be seen in harbours all over Cornwall and have inspired many of our print designs. Head a short way down the high street from our shop and you’re sure to see some. And as a commitment to reducing single-use plastic waste, we’ve installed a water refill station, so you can top up your bottle or have a quick glass while you’re shopping.
We reopened in style last Saturday to the sound of our friends Figurehead singing shanties, and had a fantastic day welcoming Seasalt Friends old and new. So if you’re in town or visiting us on holiday, why not pop in and say hello?
