Very comfortable shoes

The Blackfish Brogue in dark forage are my second pair of Seasalt blackfish brogues. The first were in grey suede (Cobble) and I just fell in love with them the moment I saw them. I have never bought any shoes online before as I have a high instep and rather wide feet but was tempted by them for quite a long time and finally decided to give them a try. So first I bought the grey ones and now the green ones. They are very comfortable though a little bit too long. The grey ones are slippery (leather soles) but the green ones have rubber soles so it is not a problem anymore. And I believe they look better in reality than in the picture. Surely I will go for another pair in the future.

Go Green

I take a slim 7.5 according to Clarks (the only shoe company that measures feet - unless yr having bespoke) and these fit perfectly - even around the heel.
So four stars for fit and that they're leather lined but haven't worn them suficiently yet to comment on comfort or durability. However, the rubber finish to the sole looks to be an improvement on bare leather

Beautiful shoes

I bought the light grey last year and found them so comfortable - I have wide feet and these are just perfect. I scuffed the leather soles with sandpaper before wearing to make sure things didn't get too slippy outside and I have never had a problem. Get so many compliments. Have just ordered the dark green in the sale and can't wait to wear them.

Soled A Pup

I love the colour, fit and style of my Blackfish Brogues bought, in grey suede, in a sale; however
I don't love that after just three, shortish walks the heels showed signs of wear and tear and I realised the stitching, attaching the sole to the upper, was also wearing through compromising the tread.
As I like these shoes, a lot, and want them to last I took them to my local cobbler and asked him to do what he needed to so that I could walk many more miles in them without worrying about them falling apart or wearing down.
He rolled his eyes when I took them out of my bag and said he had had a number of other Seasalt shoes, of the same design, in for repair.
He indicated the pairs on the shelves behind him either awaiting attention or waiting to be collected having been repaired.
He said they were poorly designed and that the stitching, on the sole, should have been laid into a small channel so that walking in the shoes did not wear out the stitching.
He asked if the shoes were expensive and I said not as much as they would have been had I bought them at full price.
I was charged £18.00 for the repair - negating the saving I made buying them in the sale.
Needless to say I am really disappointed as I feel the shoes are not fit for purpose and I am clearly not alone judging by my cobbler's comments.
I am a longstanding Seasalt customer (going right back to the General Clothing Store) and this is the first time I have had reason to make a complaint about one of your products.
I am annoyed I have had to make a costly repair to a pair of shoes only worn THREE times.
Granted the repair was remedial but my cobbler said if I had continued to walk in the shoes without taking remedial action the shoe's function would have been even more compromised and my bill for repair much heftier.
I feel I was 'soled a pup' with these shoes and want to warn other customers that unless they intend to wear their Blackfish Brogues on carpet only they can expect a cobbler's repair bill and should build this into their purchase cost if they decide to make a purchase.
Thank you

Comments:

Dear Briny,
We’re pleased you love the style and fit of your brogues, but we’re sorry to hear that you’ve had problems with wear, thank you for letting us know. Our first design of the Blackfish Brogues had leather soles with traditional style stitching. Leather soles, while they do give a more refined and attractive appearance, are less durable.
We take quality very seriously and always listen carefully to our customers’ feedback to improve and make sure all our designs are tip top. To make our Blackfish Brogues more hard-wearing, we’ve added rubber to the soles to make them non-slip and increase the durability. We’re sorry to have disappointed you, and one of our customer service team will be in touch with you soon to discuss this in more detail.
Best wishes, Seasalt

Beautiful Shoes!

These shoes are beautiful! I got them in tan and the leather is lovely and soft and they feel very good quality.

I ordered the 38 as I'm a size 7 in Australia which I think is a UK 5? They are about half a size too long, but the width is great.
It was hard to tell what size to order as I am unfamiliar with EU sizing!
But I will be wearing half orthotics once I break them in so they may end up being the right size.

Love them!
