Job Description: Seasalt Accounting Technician
Application Form: Seasalt Job Application Form
Below is a little Q&A with Adam, one of our Finance Technicians, to give you an idea of what it’s like to work in our Finance team.
How long have you worked at Seasalt?
Two and a half years
What was your experience before joining Seasalt?
After completing my A-levels at Redruth School I worked full time as a yacht broker for just over 2 years until I moved to Seasalt.
What does a typical week in the Finance team entail?
In my previous role, I worked on the Sales Ledger where I particularly enjoyed speaking to our wholesale customers. In my new role in the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team I generally have a mix of project work and planning and reporting tasks which tie into our budgeting and management accounts processes. Most of these jobs entail working with colleagues from inside and outside the Finance team to ensure that the business has useful, accurate, timely information.
What have been your biggest achievements since joining Seasalt?
I am really proud to have completed my AAT qualification. This has helped me to better understand processes in the Finance team and to develop my technical skills. Another achievement has been researching, developing and helping implement a new expenses policy as part of a project group. Seeing a project through from the beginning, sharing it with the wider company and now using it day-in, day-out has really allowed me to take responsibility for this process.
What do you hope to achieve in the future?
I have just started to study for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification so I am looking forward to studying for – and in time passing! – this qualification, while building on my knowledge and experience in my new role in the Financial Planning and Analysis part of the Seasalt Finance team.
What is the best thing about working for Seasalt?
Definitely the support – whether it’s the guidance available from individuals across the business or the support provided by the company as a whole, which has allowed me to gain my qualification as well as developing my experience as the company continues to grow.
What have you learnt that has surprised you most since working for Seasalt?
I have been impressed with the opportunities available within the company and the confidence shown in both the product and members of the team. It is also great to see the attention to detail and the uniqueness of Seasalt products, right from the planning and design stages through to selling the product in our own shops and online.
Must have Seasalt product?
Bosun’s Boxers of course!!!
