With the pending Pasty Tax hanging over the Cornish people, we have come up with a way to beat the tax by creating your own! With hundreds of variations for the Cornish pasty, there are plenty of recipes to choose from. We have found a true Cornish recipe for you to test out, let us know how you get on.
If you haven’t been spurred on already to get outside and prepare for the years gardening then getting on in April is a must. The soil is warming up and spring should be on us, it certainly seems that way here in Cornwall right now. Do keep an eye on the weather forecast though, even in the south of England a cold snap and snow are not unknown in April. Here’s a few notes, tips and suggestions for the month ahead.
Saturday 17th March saw Helford River Gig Club’s annual hosting of their “Mini-Scillies” Gig Rowing event.
What better way to kick off summer and celebrate the end of the oyster season than with an entire weekend dedicated to oyster eating and gig rowing on the spectacular Carrick Roads. James Eddy, our model/artist/coxswain took to the waters to help celebrate.
On the 31st March it is the 5th Birthday of our lovely shop on the Isles of Scilly!
The sun has finally come out, the evenings are lighter, Easter is in sight and we’ve got a new kids’ collection online. So in celebration we’re planning a Twitter competition this Thursday.
This position has now been filled. Thanks to everyone who expressed an interest in it.
We love our food and we love weekends, so what better way to celebrate (Cornish style) than with a Friday pasty club?

We put out a little blog the other week about the medieval ship Matthew that had docked in Padstow. The boat is in Cornwall for the next few months, before heading up to London for the Jubilee and some of our ladies from the Padstow shop were lucky enough to get on board and meet the crew – all of whom were sporting lovely Seasalt stripes.
