Falmouth Oyster Festival kicked off Cornish style proper last Thursday and we managed to get down to the shellfish action on Saturday afternoon.
With craft stalls opening at 10am along with loads of culinary delights, we ventured down to Events Square to catch up with the local talent and take full advantage of all the complimentary nibbles!
Despite being greeted in the main tent by numerous tempting aromas, it wasn’t just a foodie’s utopia; there was all sorts on offer, from face painting for the nippers through to live music from Dalla – perfect for a wiggle whilst window shopping.
Naturally however, the oysters were the main attraction and the celebration of their long popular history. We weren’t feeling adventurous enough to try one, but we did hover close to the professionals shucking for a steady stream of customers.
The entertainment carried on into the evening with live music from a variety of different groups, our favourite being the shanty singers who were a perfect accompaniment for the maritime theme.
