Helen Glover and Heather Stanning have just this minute come first in the women’s pair, making them the first British athletes to get Gold at the 2012 games but also the first British women in history to ever win an Olympic Gold in rowing!
Everyone at Seasalt, the whole of Cornwall and the entire UK were rooting for them this morning as they set out to the start line at the course at Eton Dorney. Competing against Romania, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Germany in the Final A team, the girls stormed the race with a time of 7:27.
Huge congratulations for such a massive achievement and here’s hoping this is the first of many Gold’s now to land in the British lap.
Seasalt have been lucky enough to support Helen Glover, from Penzance, and her fellow rower Annie Vernon from Wadebridge, for the past year.
